Business Development Internship

Location: Northbrook, IL
Type: Full-Time Internship, hiring year-round. 8-week program.

Overview
DDG Holdings is a true single-family office actively looking to acquire manufacturing businesses. We are operators who buy for the long term, separating ourselves from traditional private equity. We are seeking a highly driven, sales-oriented student or professional to join our in-house M&A sourcing team. This role is designed for a self-starter who wants to break into the buy-side of M&A and hunt for acquisition targets.

The Role
This is not a traditional internship. You will be on the front lines getting real reps in deal origination. Responsibilities include:

  • Outbound Prospecting: Executing daily, high-volume outbound cold outreach to manufacturing business executives.
  • Lead Generation: Sourcing, identifying, and qualifying off-market acquisition targets that fit the DDG portfolio criteria.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintaining rigorous CRM hygiene, tracking the sales cycle, and utilizing targeted email and other outreach tactics.

The Experience
Interns will undergo a comprehensive 1-week orientation covering the DDG playbook, financial literacy, and cold-call training, followed by a 7-week intensive sourcing sprint. You will work directly alongside high-level executives and receive hands-on mentorship, daily performance debriefs, and an immersive look into how a family office evaluates businesses.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional communication skills and a strong, confident phone presence.
  • High resilience and a competitive drive to succeed in a high-volume cold-calling environment.
  • A strong interest in investment banking, family offices, M&A, or technical sales.
  • Ability to think on your feet, navigate gatekeepers, and professionally handle objections.
